Food glorious food,

Were anxious to try it

Three banquets a day

Our favorite diet,

Just picture a great big steak,

Fried , roasted, or stewed,

OH food, wonderful food, marvellous food, glorious food.

CUT, STOP SINGING' WE HAVE .........
BROCCOLI.
Need I say more. It is beautiful, rich in cancer fighting, antioxidents....and STINKY.
Oh my , in my little hotel room we have a mini fridge, and every week I pack food for Kayti and I........nice food that is good for you....including this nice green vegetation.
As I am unpacking the fridge today I notice an odd smell. I pull out the red peppers, the yogurt, the frozen lasagna, the carrots and celery.......and then a stench that fills the room, and causes me to gag. The broccoli and cauliflower airtight glad container is ......reeeking through the plastic.
1. mistake number one: do not open possible stinky container in hotel room
2. mistake number two: dont run out the door into the hallway seeking, a garbage cantainer with an open container of stinky broccoli.....
3. dont ask the maid for a garbage bag, especially one who does not have english as a first language.
The result of all these mistakes.....
A room that stinks like poop, an open fairway with sofas that reek like poop, an exit hallway that reek like poop.
Remedy:
Open hotel window, all six inches
Run around with your favorite BodyShop, perfume, White Musk spraying everywhere the broccoli went.
Open a locked exit door to the fullest hoping the air is going to find its way to the open window, down the hall , in the lobby area, and into your hotel room...... to expell the rancid poop smell from the hotel .
Put on bathroom fan....
Gather all belongings and run like the wind, to your car and take off......
All this time one scene from the movie Liar Liar with Jim Carey is running through my brain:
He is standing in a full elevator, lets one rip and says IT WAS ME.
Unfortunatley for me.....we have to come back next week to the very same room which we have
occupied for the last 6 weeks.......I think they will know who did it. IT WAS ME.
Biggest lesson learned....do not bring broccoli anytime, anyplace, no matter how good it is for you.

  1. Bummer, I was really enjoying the song up to that point.

If you don't mind my asking, why so long in a hotel room? Work? Renovating?

  2. Love the new sidebar sign. Here I've been looking EVERYWHERE for me. All I have to do is create myself? That sounds like much more fun than wandering around hopelessly in a circle! :)

  3. First you had me a the song, then the description I felt I was in the room running around. My little one says mom why are you laghing there are no pictures. Never ever leave broccoli to go yuck. If you think the smell might still be there later, take some vinegar and put some in a bowl or use vanilla, they absorbe smells and light a candle. You might want to give the hotel a heads up so they can do some airfreshener, if you want to be on good terms with them next week.

  4. I used to try to cook broccoli at work - it was too embarassing, so I switched to steaming it at home and making a broccoli salad to take. It does smell like poo. Dang. FYI, cabbage ain't much better.

  5. I used to clean rooms at a little hotel in Washington. The smells are the hardest thing to get rid of, but I never remember tackling broccoli. Old pizza and stale wine top the list in my book, so I am sure that they won't hold it against ya.

Life is all about lessons...some you learn the hard way, but you remember those the best:)

  9. In my defense I had recently started reading your blog Berries but hadn't gone past the last couple of posts. You're right about the names of the mom's in the shows. I guess I was confused, don't be surprised if it happens again.

Anyhoo, I went back and read all the way to the pink chair post and thought, great, all this time and all I've got is an anxiety attack about bedbugs. Like I need help in thinking up things to be anxious about.

Then I got to the post before that about your daughter. I'm so sorry to hear what happened. I can only imagine how hard it's been. I hope the rehab is helping and that she continues to make improvements. If only they would stay little and we could still fix everything with a kiss and an Elmo band-aid.

I did enjoy reading more about your cottage. It's looking wonderful. I think I heard my "waiting treasures" talking to yours on the phone awhile ago. They're all tired of the basement and were planning a sit in...

  10. Ya rehab is going okay except for the OT who told Kayti her work was pitiful and she would never get into university with that work....ugh did anyone tell that #$#% what group of people she is working with??????? anyhoo kayti very nicely put her in place 4 twenty minutes and now the OT won't even look at her......the tongue lashing was done very intelligently with no raised voice....and i might add in a place where all her colleagues could hear....and the lady assigned someone else to work with Kayti.......kudos for my daughter for standing up to this bully, who hides her abuse in the form of "being funny"

  11. Yeah for your daughter for standing up for herself, so proud. No one has the right to do that to anyone let alone someone in that position. You always want to set the bar higher than they think they themselves can reach so they will strive for it, not lower the bar beneath what they are already doing. I am so glad you are in the position to be able to be there for her, awsome mom!

  12. Good for Kayti! You would think that professionals would know better. We've had some good OT's and some that just plain didn't get it. I'm glad both my kids are done with it.

  13. Dawn why did your kids have OT's???

  14. Dawn should I read your blog to find out???LOL

  15. LOL! Go for it. Look for "slice of life" labels.

Oh, nevermind, I'm such s softie, I'll help ya out. Both have developmental disabilities and needed OT for fine motor skills and sensory integration issues when they were younger.
